Anyway, good natured ribbing aside (which is what I hope that was), I agree with you that a lot of Illich’s thought was not conservative. Considering the totality of Illich as a thinker he is very difficult to pin down on one side or the other of our binary political vision. So I grant the point with the caveat that a great deal of Illich’s work was profoundly conservative. And I think his work to understand the destructive metaphysics carried into our lives by much of modern technology is one of those areas.
